2-Thiamine-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid is a white crystal with a melting point of 195.degree. C. (decomposition). It is dissolved in water and the solution is acidic. It is soluble in dimethamine, and is partially soluble in methanol and ethanol, and is difficult to dissolve in acetone. A little sour. The product has a polymerizable vinyl group and a hydrophilic sulfonic acid group, and can be copolymerized with water-soluble monomers such as acrylonitrile, alicyclic amine and the like, and non-water-soluble monomers such as styrene and vinyl chloride. Hydrophilic sulfonic acid groups are introduced into the polymer, so that the fibers, the films, and the like have a hygroscopic water permeability and a conductivity. Can be used for paper industry and waste water treatment. As a coating modifier, a fiber modifier and a medical polymer.
