The function of surfactant in cosmetics: emulsifying, dispersing, solubilizing, foaming and washing
1)Emulsifying
The phenomenon that the insoluble matter is emulsified uniformly in water to form emulsion called emulsification.Emulsifiers are mainly used in cosmetics to produce creams and lotions,At present, the most widely used are non-ionic emulsifiers,The reason is that non-ionic emulsifiers are safe and less irritating。The famous dehydrated sorbitol fatty acid ester (disc) and its ethylene oxide admixture (twain) are good compound non-ionic emulsifiers,sipan hydrophilic oil, twain hydrophilic, both of which are mixed in O/W emulsion, can form stable, skin-friendly emulsion.

2)Solubilizing
The phenomenon of increasing solubility of micro-soluble or insoluble substances called solubilization。When surfactant is added to water, the surface tension of water begins to decrease sharply, and then a micelle of surfactant molecules is formed.The concentration of surfactant used in forming micelles is called critical micelle concentration.When the concentration of surfactant reaches the critical micelle concentration, the micelle can absorb oil or solid particles to the end of the oil-loving base, so it can increase the solubility of micro-solutes or insoluble substances
In cosmetics, the solvent is mainly used for the production of make-up water, hair oil, hair conditioner.

3)Dispersing
The phenomenon that insoluble substances form particles in water and disperse uniformly called dispersion。The dispersing system of cosmetics includes powder, solvent and dispersant.Powders mainly make cosmetics with good color, can cover the background color, has a good sense of use and sunscreen effect.The solvents are divided into water system and non-water system. Dispersants as media are also hydrophilic (suitable for water system) and oil - friendly (suitable for non-water system). So there are multiple combinations of the system

4)Cleaning

Cationic surfactant is the main conditioner in hair conditioner products such as conditioner and hair conditioner.It has good softness and static resistance, and plays a unique role in hair smoothing conditioner.The most commonly used cationic surfactants are monoalkyl and bialkyl quaternary ammonium salts.That is, C16 ~ 18 monoalkyl ammonium salt, double C16 ~ 18 alkyl quaternary ammonium salt and alkyl benzyl quaternary ammonium salt

6)Wetting and osmosis
