After more than 10 years of hard work, a few days ago, PetroChina Xinjiang Oilfield Company discovered a 1 billion-ton Mahu conglomerate large oil area in the central area of the Mahu Sag in the Junggar Basin, which is the largest conglomerate oil field discovered in the world.
The Karamay oilfield is the first large oilfield discovered after the founding of New China, and has made outstanding contributions to China's economic construction. After half a century of development, the fault zone, which is the main body of capacity building, has not made major breakthroughs for many years. Since the 1990s, the oilfield has been insisting on finding large scenes and discovering large oil fields as the top priority, changing the concept, and proposing a new exploration and new idea of “jumping out of the fault zone and going to the slope zone”. However, the conglomerate exploration in the depression area faces the four world-recognized problems of resource potential, effective reservoir, source accumulation and lack of supporting technologies. So far, there is no successful precedent for the exploration of conglomerate scale in the depression area at home and abroad.
It is understood that from 2016 to 2017, the Mahu area has a new capacity of 1.38 million tons, and plans to build more than 6 million tons during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, becoming a new base for the increase and storage of Xinjiang Oilfield Company.
