The 23rd Norway north sea international oil and gas exhibition (ONS 2018) was held yesterday in stavanger, Norway. At booth 7280 in hall 7, a display of "digital twins", a virtual model of an oil and gas production facility, attracted many attendees. The feasibility study, carried out by Kongsberg, the producer of the Marine field automatic monitoring system, in partnership with Norwegian oil, confirms that the "digital twins" will provide an advantage for autonomous, unmanned and remote operations of oil and gas production facilities.
Digitalization has become a hot topic at this north sea oil and gas show. A non-technical meeting on the afternoon of the 28th featured the title "surf digitization", asking the whole industry.
The current wave of digitalization is transforming the business ecosystem, with various businesses transforming into fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality and blockchain.
Can the oil and gas industry take advantage of the digital impact? How should a new generation of technology start-ups step in?
